The benefits of Moringa Oleifera

Moringa Oleifera, often called “the miracle tree” or a “superfood”, is a plant that has been used in cooking for centuries as part of tradition. On the Italian Ministry of Health’s list of botanicals, Moringa is useful for digestive function and lipid metabolism.
Let’s look at what its leaves contain, how it is used in the kitchen and in cosmetics, and how to bring it into your daily routine with supplements.
What properties does Moringa have?
Moringa Oleifera is a plant with an interesting nutritional profile. Its leaves naturally contain polyphenols (such as quercetin and chlorogenic acid), vitamins and minerals such as calcium, iron, potassium and magnesium.
According to the label, our leaf powder provides per 100 g:
- 29.7 g of protein: high protein content. Protein contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass and to the maintenance of normal bones;
- 17.1 g of fibre: high fibre content;
- just 0.04 g of sodium and 0.75 g of saturated fat.
These are values per 100 g of powder, not per daily serving. Moringa protein contains all 9 essential amino acids.
On the ministerial list of botanicals, Moringa is useful for digestive function and lipid metabolism: these are the effects for which we put it in every one of our formulas.

Did you know…
Moringa is often described as a superfood because of the variety of nutrients in its leaves: essential amino acids, vitamins, polyphenols and minerals. It is an easy plant to bring into your daily routine, and it is useful for lipid metabolism and digestive function.
What is moringa used for? A plant with a thousand resources
Moringa is used in cooking, in supplements and in cosmetics, where the seed extract is used for skin and hair.
Its polyphenols are studied by researchers for their role in counteracting free radicals: these are laboratory studies, which we report without making promises.
In supplements, Moringa is useful for lipid metabolism and for digestive function (ministerial list of botanicals): this is why we put it in every one of our formulas.
In cosmetics, Moringa products moisturise, tone and protect the skin from external agents, and help give shine to hair.
Finally, it is interesting for anyone following a vegetarian or vegan diet: our leaf powder has a high protein content (29.7 g per 100 g) and a high fibre content (17.1 g per 100 g).
In which areas is Moringa used?
Moringa has been used for centuries in food, in cosmetics and in the folk traditions of Asia and Africa.
Let’s look at the different uses of this plant.
Food
Moringa Oleifera is a versatile ingredient, both in the kitchen and as a supplement.
Moringa powder is obtained from dried and ground leaves and is practical to use every day.
But how do you use moringa powder in the kitchen? You can add it to smoothies, soups and yogurt, or use it when making bread and desserts.
In some regions of the world fresh leaves are also used, added to salads, stews, soups, sauces and other traditional dishes.
Cosmetics
Moringa in cosmetics is increasingly popular for skin and hair. Moringa seed oil is appreciated for its moisturising and protective action: it helps protect the skin from external agents and counteract the signs of ageing.
It is used in face creams, hair masks and body products, for soft skin and shiny hair.
Thanks to its gentleness, moringa oil is also suitable for sensitive skin.
Research
Moringa Oleifera is also the subject of scientific research, for example on the relationship between Moringa and the gut, described in this study. Among the compounds studied are the phytosterols of the leaves. These are preliminary studies, which we report for information purposes.
